Best killer sudoku apps

A killer sudoku app earns its place on a home screen if it works on a train with no signal, if the hint explains itself, and if yesterday’s puzzle is still the same puzzle when you open it on the web to show a friend. Most apps are good at the first and vague about the other two.

Offline matters because a killer puzzle takes twenty minutes, not twenty seconds. If the app must download a new board every time, the daily habit breaks the first morning the signal is bad. You do not need an account to keep a streak. A streak stored on the device is enough for a daily habit, and it does not ask you to hand over an email before the first puzzle. If an app gates the medium difficulty behind a subscription, the free website with a real medium set is the honest alternative.
